A Story about Surrendering & an Invite

Years ago, I visited several of Egypt’s sacred sites, including the Pyramids. It was a fascinating experience that left me curious about what the other Earth chakras are. Thanks to the Internet, I found more information, including details about the Ley lines (associated with "earth energies" and ancient wisdom). Looking further, I discovered the Peterborough Petroglyphs National Historic Site, one of the largest known concentrations of prehistoric rock carvings in Canada — evidence of the spiritual and intellectual life of the Algonkian Indians, who carved them between A.D. 900 - 1400.

I didn't pass up the chance to visit the site, and—after a 3-hour drive—I found this place with a special energy. I loved the teachings associated with those Petroglyphs (from their Learning Centre), and the sensory experience I had there — while the person who was with me sat on a bench and kept writing. He told me afterwards that being there reignited his abandoned idea for a documentary movie (which he later finished and won awards).

Not long after, I took a group of people to visit that place. “I didn’t have any special experience,” someone told me at the end. “I expected to have the same one as yours.”

Expecting something is different than setting an intention and being open to whatever shows up. “I expect” puts you in a more passive mode, somehow wanting to control what’s going to happen—which could lead to disappointment if it doesn’t.

Setting an intention based on what you really want, and opening up to the experience (for whatever it brings), is surrendering to receiving whatever you actually need—even if you might not recognize its value yet. Then, do the most with what you've got.

How often do you expect others and situations to turn out the way you want?

The idea that came to me recently—to organize a soft launch for my new author website—came from a moment when I surrendered. Since I love such sudden ideas, I am now focusing on its implementation… and you’re invited!

Do you want an opportunity to practice expectation vs. intention?

This event could be your chance:
An evening with award-winning author Gabriela Casineanu

I structured it with the intention of giving you a great experience. However, you’ll need to do your part: set your intention for what you’d like to get out of it, and check out the event agenda and prizes.

Hint: you’ll get more if you ask questions! And I made this easy: you can send them to me before the event. You’ll find the details in the event description and in the confirmation email.

What do you think? Are you up for this challenge?
