Introverts: Leverage Your Strengths for an Effective Job Search (my first book's story)
The challenge
Have you ever felt the urge to scream, "I can't do this anymore!"... but had energy only to put your head down and leave?
That was me years ago. I was going through a burnout from leading daily workshops and constantly talking with clients. It left me exhausted and with severe voice issues.
Although I loved my work—helping smart people find jobs and build meaningful careers—the sheer amount of direct contact became too much for an introvert like me. I didn't have time to recover my energy.
Facing constant pressure from work to recover fast, I quit—without knowing what I would do next.
Three months into my recovery, an inspiring thought popped into my mind: "Write an introvert's guide to job search."
Where the book idea came from?
I had no idea where it came from, but it hit me: my decade of experience in applying a coaching approach to employment and career counselling prepared me for it!
This was a way to help more people with the strategies I had discovered or developed over the years, without my being physically present or talk.
I jumped into the project right away (I couldn't work, nor talk at that time). Ten months later, I self-published it with the title Introverts: Leverage Your Strengths for an Effective Job Search, and my burnout symptoms gradually vanished.
The book received over 2,800 downloads in 36 hours, reached top #96 on all of Amazon, bestseller in seven countries, and won awards later.
That experience not only proved there was a need for this book but also made me fall in love with writing.
And it inspired me to launch the Introverts Academy in 2022, to broaden the offerings.
Curious how I helped thousands of introverts with the strategies included in this book?
It's available in print, ebook, and audiobook formats.
